After years of sitting on the fence as it were, being a neutral a player interested in exploring both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray next gen disc formats, on Wed. Bandai Visual announced a major advancement on the HD-DVD end of the spectrum. Bandai has agreed on a technical cooperation between Memory-Tech Corporation (Japan’s largest optical disc manufaturer) and Microsoft, to manufacture it’s forthcoming HD-DVD releases. Just last month in Tokyo, Memory-Tech and Microsoft announced a major agreement on technical collaboration to optimize high-definition quality for animated contents using the VC-1, video compression technology for next-generation DVD standards including HD DVD. Noisey visual pixelation effects generated from movement specific to animation content is said to be annulled by using the Microsoft owned codec technology.
