Omron AOKA Vision Medical Diagnostic Display System

Omron AOKA Vision Medical Diagnostic Display System

In the Intel booth at the Embedded Systems Expo, Omron exhibited a six-screen diagnostic display system.

This system can be used to display and enter patients’ medical records. It can also efficiently process a huge amount of information, including X-ray and CT images. In addition, this system can automatically display information about the patient by using Omron’s facial image sensing technology, called OKAO Vision.

“Because images from health examinations are already stored as data in different systems, this system makes it possible to share those images in a single unit. This system extracts information from large numbers of images, so it needs the performance of an Intel high-power CPU. We’ve made good use of that high performance.”

The six-screen display system has two screens that utilize the graphics capability of the Intel microprocessor itself, and four screens that utilize the AG10 graphics processor from Accel. Omron has provided the FrantioAX board in which the processors are embedded.

“Because this system is realized within a single board, rather than having three or four items of hardware, we think it’s advantageous in terms of cost. We’re getting ready to provide it to customers in the form of a development package. So we can offer this system at any time.”
