Japan is planning to cover all its new Building with Solar Panels

According to AFP, Japan official are considering to actively enforce the installation of Solar Panels on every new structures in Japan either Houses or New building by 2030.
While we did not hear anything official yet on this matter, this plan is expected to be unveiled at the upcoming G8 summit in France, where Japan would like to encourage the usage of alternative and renewable energy.
Such drastic change is a definitively welcome move, but it is raising many questions: Are we capable to mass product enough of these solar panels? What will be the impact on nature to produce enough Solar panels for such plan? Do we have enough raw materials for it?

This said, having Solar panels on each major building or storage facilities all over the world is a tempting idea that we should really consider carefully.

The Japanese power grid is incapable of meeting demand.
Something like this needs to be done.
While I dont see it being enforced, I do see it being encouraged. They need to either make it free & charge people for the power they produce, or subsidize it and buy excess power from the people producing it.
Something needs to happen or Japan will have big power problems. Summer is coming and due to everyone using air conditioning (a must here) theres talk of rolling black outs!

Assuming sufficient production capacity for solar panels they’re the best option for Japan right now since they’ve had such a large amount of their power production capacity taken out of action and building any kind of power station would take much much longer than installing solar panels it’s probably the only realistic solution.

There’s a web site that shows actual power availability and consumption in real time.

For now we are at 70%-80% capacity which is ok. But as I said its gonna get worse as it gets hot.

By adding  solar panels to buildings and people homes we can lessen the drain on available power. Its a quick fix thats still good for the environment. Hopefully this will make solar power cheaper to produce and buy which is win win in my book.
In the long term, whether we like it or not, nuclear power (when done right) is clean and efficient. Just needs to be newer power plants and not something made in the 70s…

i think solar power is clean, but please, let us know if You will find the answers for Your questions.
    Thank You :-)

very good idea. It can triple Japan electric power. As for lack of panels I am laughing. Take a look at solar panel Chinese giants   -  they will supply as many panels as Japan needs with no interruption.

I think it’s a great idea…they started doing the same thing in Germany also. I hope we in the United States follow suit…we’re much closer to the equator and we would see an even bigger benefits from solar energy

Solar panels in Japan where it is sunny all the time!!! Like right now!… wait.. its not sunny. It hasn’t been all week. or most of last week… or will it be for the rest of the month….

I suppose every little bit helps but this idea stinks of a zaibatsu backed government deal that will make a few people rich off badly concieved government policy (like the nuclear debacle). What Japan needs to do is go into Geothermal power in a big way. And while they are at it, maybe try restructuring the entire government so it runs for the benefit of the people in the country rather than to make the wealthy elites wealthier. Yeah. Never going to happen. Time to watch AKB48 on my smartphone and forget the REAL problems in the country. maybe they will go away. someone else can do something about it… PONIIITEERUUUU!!!!
