Thanks to a camera placed on your windshield, these Pioneers Navigation systems will shoot live pictures of what’s in front of you and display them on your cars GPS with the instruction needed for more accurate guidance. Thanks to a clever set of calculation, these AR GPS will be able to calculate exact distance between any giving points (Cars, Point of Interest…) in order to give you the most accurate information possible to not miss your next turn but will also be capable to identify on which lane you are, red lights and others traffic signals.

Other specs includes: a &” Wide VGA screen, Digital TV Tuner, DVD Video, CD, Bluetooth, USB, SD, 5.1Ch Audio System and HDD Navigation maps.
These four car navigation systems will be available in Japan at the end of May at a price yet unknown.

Wow….this blows my mind. Augmented reality is going to change the way location is delivered to mobile users. The technologies are all there but didn’t expect to see the confluence of them all so quickly. As usual, Japan leads the way. Article says these systems are available end of May 2011. Wonder who the OEMs are?
