CEATEC – A Toshiba HD-DVD player prototype

Once more, we would like to insist on the fact that HD-DVDs could not be found on the CEATEC. Only Toshiba was offering HD-DVD ads, so Blu-Ray was the easy winner. Nevertheless, on the Toshiba booth, there was a mock-up of a future home HD-DVD player. It was dropped there carelessly, as if Toshiba finally realized the battle was lost. As you can see, the player has a decent size (twice as thin) compared to the current model.
But what’s the point of lingering on HD-DVD, while:

1) Universal player/burners will be available by the end of 2007.
2) Blu-Ray is the winner, at least in Japan.
