Toshiba’s waterproof Camileo BW10 ready for summer at $150

It seems like we’re going to be seeing a lot of digital camcorders released in the coming weeks and months with Flip getting canned by Cisco. Today Toshiba announced the launch of its newest waterproof Camileo BW10 camcorder.
Available in silver or yellow, the pocket-sized, HD cam features a rubberized coating that makes it perfect for recording while exploring those reefs or even the community swimming pool this summer. It can even record full HD 1080p video up to 6.5-feet underwater and takes 5MP stills.
The other specs include a 10x digital zoom, two-inch LCD screen, weight of 3.5 ounces, and comes with the standard HDMI (cable not included) and USB outputs, up to 64GB SD card, and an LED flash for stills. The only downfall I see to this, even more than the Samsung W200 Pocket Cam, is that it only gets approximately 1 hour 10 minute recording time. It is a lot cheaper than some other underwater cameras so its perfect for families for vacations and short events, but I wouldn’t try to use it to record a graduation ceremony or any other long event.
You can pick one up from Toshiba’s website today for $129 after a $20 instant rebate.
The latest addition to Toshiba’s popular CAMILEO line, the BW10 camcorder offers versatility and resilience for consumers leading active lives by recording full HD 1080p video resolution up to six and a half feet under water and offering a 10x digital zoom to capture images from afar.
The CAMILEO BW10 camcorder is equipped with a two-inch diagonal LCD screen and weighs a mere 3.5 ounces, making it perfect for tossing into a beach bag or backpack. Ideal for action-packed activities underwater and on land, the CAMILEO BW10 camcorder’s electronic image stabilization helps users capture steadier images. Another key feature found in the BW10 package is easy YouTube uploading with the CAMILEO Uploader software.
“With the success we’ve experienced with the CAMILEO line, we are excited to expand it with our newest camcorder that is designed for our more adventurous customers,” said Paul Collas, director of accessory marketing, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Digital Life Products and Services.
“The CAMILEO BW10 camcorder is ideal for people who love to be outdoors in the snow, on the mountains, in the rapids or swimming in the pool and want to capture their experiences without fear of ruining their camcorder.” The CAMILEO BW10 camcorder also doubles as a five megapixel digital still camera, with separate video and photo functions for instant action. Consumers can conveniently view videos and still photos directly on a computer or HDTV with a mini HDMI® cable (sold separately).
Pricing and Availability The CAMILEO BW10 is immediately available at toshibadirect.com and a variety of major consumer electronics and computer stores nationwide starting at $149.99 MSRP1.
