If you’ve been waiting for the high-end Android devices from LG, to finally make the jump into the Android scene, your wait is over. Today at T-Mobile stores nationwide (US) LG launched the G2x smartphone and the G-Slate Android tablet, a rival to the Motorola Xoom. Both of these devices utilize T-Mobile’s 4G HSPA+ network. Both are also available from T-Mobile’s website.

If you’ve never heard of either of these devices then you’ve surely been living underground, but the LG G2x features a 4-inch WVGA display, dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, HDMI output,  512MB of RAM, 8GB of built-in flash storage with microSD support, front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera and an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with a single LED flash and autofocus plus 1080p video capture. It also has a stock version of Android 2.2 (Froyo), but should be upgraded to the latest Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) soon.

It’s available for $199 from T-Mobile after a $50 mail-in rebate, or from Amazon for $149, with a two year contract.

The 8.9-inch LG G-Slate on the other hand is the first dual-camera 3D capturing Android tablet with Android 3.0 (Honeycomb), a dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, both a front 2-megapixel and rear 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, 32GB of built-in flash storage, and HDMI. To playback 3D video, you will need to wear the included 3D glasses. For the rest of the specs, check out T-Mobile’s site.

The G-Slate is available from T-Mobile for $529 with a two year contract and after a $100 mail-in rebate, but beware that this would be a total cost of $1250 over the next 24 months since you are required to pay for a monthly data plan. Off-contract, it costs $749, coming in $50 cheaper than the Xoom and comes with 3D capabilities that Motorola’s tablet doesn’t .

Since these are LG’s first high-end devices, it will be interesting to see if any types of issues pop up. If you have the cash to spare, go and take the plunge for some stock Android goodness on this pair of sleek devices.
