16x DL DVD red laser burning

Sharp announced they started production of a red laser diode to burn DL + and – DVDs at a 16x speed. Up until now, burners had a maximum throughput of 250mW, which allowed the burning of single layer DVDs at 16x. With this new red laser burner, Sharp reached a throughput of 350mW, which is required to burn double layer DVDs. It’s interesting to note that this is a compact burner for laptop size computers (1.8mm).
