2 new Pioneer PDP TVs

Pioneer offers today 2 new Full HD 1080p PDP TVs, including the PDP-607HX (60”) and the PDP-427HDX (42”). Both have the “New P.U.R.E Black Panel” and the “New P.U.R.E Drive II” to offer the blackest possible screens. They also have the “Recoder Hot Link” to improve communications between the brand’s DVD recorders and the TVs while improving the video quality as well.

Update.

The 42″ has a native resolution 1024×768, and the 60″ has a native
resolution of 1365×768. Both models can ACCCEPT a 1920x1080p/24Hz signal,
but will rescale the signal to their native resolutions. 1920x1080p is a
resolution specification, not a display specification, so both new PDP
models (as are all previous Pioneer PDPs) completely HD capable.

    PDP-427HDX is a 42″ (not 47″)

  • Rolf Hawkins

The 42″ and 50″ PDPs mentioned in this article are capable of ACCEPTING a 1080p/24Hz signal, but rescale it to their native resolutions of 1024x768p and 1365x768p respectively. They are not 1920×1080 native resolution displays. 1920×1080 (so-called “full HD”) is a resolution spec, not a display spec. Only the Pioneer PRO-FHD1 50″ PDP monitor (no tuners, speakers, or stand) has a native resolution of 1920x1080p, and can handle both 24Hz and 60Hz signals. 24Hz signals are boosted to 72Hz for flicker-free reproduction.
