[CEBIT 2011] Technaxx car FM transmitter for Iphone & Ipad

Since Apple generally forgets to include an FM transmitter in their products (god knows why), it was time somebody came up with one. The punters at Technaxx Germany have created a cradle to use your IPhone or IPad (every model supported) in your car as a radio tuner. Except for the FM features this cradle offers enough support to use your IPad as one big GPS unit or media player.

The model featured at CeBIT was the FMT-X4000, and most certainly worth a look for anybody currently searching for a way to get better car integration with your Apple goodies.

Technical specifications:
• Frequency range: 87,5 ~ 108,0 MHz (0,1
MHz 206 Channels)
• Signal coverage: over 10m
• Audio-frequency range: 20 Hz – 20 KHz
• AUX-support: Line-in (Audio-input)
• AUX-input: 3,5mm (Stereo-jack)
• Voltage : 12V – 24V   (car lighter jack)
• Ampere: 5V (max. 2A)
• External charge: Mini USB

Box contents:
• FMT-X4000
• Kfz-charger
• Car holder with suction cup
• User manual

Size & weight:
• Weight: 0.31 KG/pc
• Box: 11*19*4.0 cm

Another special product at the Technaxx booth deserving a quick mention, was a SpongeBob licensed TV remote for children. You can preset them with 8 channels you allow your children to watch when you are out of the house and want to make sure they don’t accidentally discover another form of Mickey Mouse on some extreme pay channel you “never” subscribed to.

Here in Dallas, FM modulators or transmitters are completely useless. The broadcasting signals here, to cover the large area, override every FM modulator I’ve ever tried. Maybe this is less of a problem in Tokyo, but here in this area, they are useless. Maybe that’s why Apple doesn’t include it in their products.
