Dr Hiroshi Ishiguro, Actroid’s father gave birth to another creepy robot: Elfoid
Don’t get me wrong, Hiroshi Ishiguro is a real genius, but you have to admit that its research on robots and its creations could be sometime puzzling, and today’s new Elfoid is no exception!
This tiny little Telepresence robot is in fact Telenoid (video) little brother that Hiroshi Ishiguro introduced in 2010. The difference here is that this Efloid is basically a smaller and mobile version of Telenoid.
Simply put Elfoid is a mobile phone first in a shape of a robot capable to help you communicate with other people but also to act as a “human presence” or telepresence device.
Once you are placing a call, the Elfoid will scan you face and capture your emotion that will be forwarded to your correspondent Elfoid and will “stream” your live emotion the person you are calling.
While Elfoid may never see the light as a commercial product anytime soon, Hiroshi Ishiguro believe that such device will become more common in the future breaking the barrier of Video Conference and provide a more “human” touch to telecommunication.
