[CEBIT 2011] Qnap unveils new TurboNAS Business Series with serious improvements

Today at CEBIT 2011 we came across the Qnap booth and saw they had some new fancy devices on display. Being greeted instantly by the Taiwanese/Geman team members we arranged for our AkihabaraNews readers an exclusive look at the new Qnap TurboNAS x59 series. We were allowed to take some pictures of the 4 bay TS-459 Pro II which is one of the models currently being manufactured.

The whole line of new x59 network attached storage devices stick out head & toes compared to the previous versions.

Key improvements in the x59 Pro II are:

- Intel Dual-core ATOM CPU’s over the whole line

- Increased power saving hardware modifications

- Serial ATA 3 (SATA-3) rated 6Gb/s

- 1Gb fast DDR3 RAM

- Expandable RAM

- USB 3, 10x SuperSpeed

Power wise the new Qnap consume only 26 to maximum 44 watt depending if it is a 2, 4, 5, 6 or 8-bay unit. Which alone are impressive results. We did not notice any big changes in general design, yet the new Qnap x59 line did sport 1 usb 3 connector on the front panel and 2 extra ones at the back. Built quality, as always, was impeccable.
