DoCoMo Discover the world

After Centuries, no Sorry Millenniums… DoCoMo Finally releasied that the Pink Phone with a lot of LED, Strange Mickey Mouse Ringtones and a 3Mpix Camera is not what EVERYBODY wants in Japan, and due to the amazing success of Sharp Willcom and MS with the W-Zero3… The Dinosaur DoCoMo finally react and propose the first REAL PDA Phone in Japan, well sorry for Willcom but a PHS PDA Phone cannot be considered as a real phone. So here we are with the hTc Z a GSM-3G Pda Phone that… is only new in JAPAN !!! So we won’t offend you by giving you the spec of this device since 99.99% of Pocket PC Website already talked about this product since a long time now. But what we can promise you is a small HD Video and a lot of photo for next week!

    Hi!!

I have been looking at the UK version of this phone, but I want Japanese support!

Do you think I can buy this Japanese version when I visit in August?

I mean sim free ( no contract ) and then use it with my UK Vodafone sim card?

    Any advice appreciated !

Well Japanese people discovered the SIM there is just few years ago… but they still didn’t discover the SIM FREE system, you can buy this phone and cancel the contract 1 month later but you won’t be able to use it with another SIM, you will have to wait that the folks at http://forum.xda-developers.com/front_page.php found out a solution

Now I am interesting in this phone in English what the prices in the UK Sim free? For Japanese Support I will install the MUI. I done this on my HTC Universal and works VERY well

  • ofiaich

    Hi Daimaou !

thanks for your reply ! I know the Japanese systems quite well, 9th trip is in August,

I use a Sharp 902 Ferrari and roam using UK Vodafone’s Passport service, 150 Yen for a 59 minute call, within Japan and back to The UK !

I am not a resident so won’t be able to take out a contract, just a visitor…

[quote:f0d898f6a7]what the prices in the UK Sim free?

    http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=TYTN

Expansys shows a price of £559.95 but that is high I feel…

I can see this on the Japanese Expnasys site!

    http://www.expansys.jp/product.asp?code=138554

    price is ¥99,555

I have been reading about this, but do you have a really good link please?

I guess this is a good link but looks a bit complicated to do,

I currently use an unlocked Vodafone 802 SE with a Tungsten T3 Palm PDA and can receive and reply to my emails in Japanese. But two devices….. Hmmm!

    Thanks !

forgive me for for the beginner question…

I just moved to Tokyo and am shocked at the lack of smartphones etc.. here. After seeing the Willcom/Sharp Es today at Bic Camera, I decided to wait for the Docomo hTc.

The problem is.. I cant read Japanese! Is there a way I can buy this phone (you mentioned expansys above) overseas in English and just plug in my sym card from my Docomo phone here in Japan?

I wonder if the cost would be the same as me using the Japanese hTc?

Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated… ( I miss my Treo!)

  • ofiaich

    Hi!

I am jealous ! You have moved to Tokyo..!!! God I wish !

The main issue has got to be if the sim card will work in the other device.

I really do not know. Some other forums debate this and the answer is usually no…

    http://www.whatmobile.net/forum/index.php

There is a poster called AL from Australia, he is very good with info. He appears in other forums too..

    http://forum2.mobile-review.com//forumdisplay.php?f=26

and also at HowardForum as AL9999

    http://www.howardforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=246

My other thought is ‘won’t the Japanese model have swtichable language menu’s?’

My old Vodafone 802se can switch between English, Portuguese, Spanish and Japanese.

    Ofiaich, thanks for the help!
Your links were very useful to me…
Ive decided to wait and see if the hTc released here in Tokyo will be able to change the settings to english. If not, im gonna be studying my Japanese!

You should come visit Tokyo, the best time is the Sakura season end of March (cherry blossoms)

    Thanks again,

    J

    Hello all!

    I’m leaving in Japan/Tokyo too … I love this country (^__^)
I really want to buy one HTC TyTN. I was thinking in Docomo one, but my japanese is still bad, so I’m thinking in buy one from eBay in Engish, and plug inside my 3G Vodafone card. I think it will work (It worked with my unlocked spanish Vodafone 3G phone).

I just want to be sure that with these tools that Daimaou put here:
    http://www.timespace21.com/eng/product/pda_inputmethod.php?lang=KorChiJpnEng&os=Window
    http://www.asukal.jp/WM5/LetsJapanNo5.zip

It will be possible to read/write emails in Japanese, send messages to other japanese phones in japanese, and write some notes in PocketWord or something similar.
Please, tell me! It’s a lot of money to buy one of this babys

One more thing … I’m reading this site:
    http://www.timespace21.com/eng/product/pda_inputmethod.php?lang=KorChiJpnEng&os=Window
And it’s unclear to me if it will work with the keyboard of the phone, or only with the touchscreen.
    Thanks for your Help!
    Cesar

You will be able to read email for sure, to write them there are other solution and please have a look at the website of ASUKAL he explain EVERYTHING !!!

    Hello!

Umm, I looked sometime this page you give in the post:
    http://asukal.seesaa.net/article/6912738.html
But it’s in japanese, and my japanese es poor yet (more reading than speaking). Is any place with the instrucions in English?
Because I imagine that this is the place you told me where the instructions are …

Last question. Change the languaje from Japanese to English is impossible, not?

    Thanks!
