Ricoh first HD-DDV BR player at the Interopto 2006

Ricoh officially announced at the Interopto 2006 in Tokyo, the development of the ultimate player component (a “diffractive device”) which will support BulRay, HD-DVD, DVD and CD with a first player at the End of 2007.

What they actually stated is that they are creating the optical component, i.e. laser unit for a drive. Not an actual drive, as they would be hit by the Blueray and HDDVD team for this. The contracts with either team prevents bundeling the formats in the same player.

So in essense it’s quite useless. At present
