Quoting Nelson on the Simpons, “Ha-HA!”

The company went out of business in no small part due to the fact that Soldam was ran by an incompetent manager. I lived in Ota and applied to join the company to act as the firm’s overseas marketing specialist and to unf**k it’s “Engurish” web site. Not long after I was rejected for the job, I saw on their Japanese page that they thought that the xenophobic route would save the company. They posted slogans trying to make a big deal about using JAPANESE people and JAPANESE technology and JAPANESE know-how to make JAPANESE parts and computers for the JAPANESE market! Their Japanese marketing was almost as half-assed as their international approach. They declared bankruptcy of not only Soldam, but also the parent Hoshino ING (the name after it restructured from being called Hoshino Metal Industries) on June 15, 2012. Apparently that whole Japan-only strategy didn’t work out for them…

It is really sad, actually. Their cases were unsurpassed, but hard-headedness, incompetence, and perhaps xenophobia/nationalism/racism was the firm’s undoing. They should have listened to and hired me, but stupid is as stupid does…
