Sharp “es” W-Zero3 PDA Phone
Today Sharp, Willcom and Microsoft held a joint press conference for the launch of the New PDA Phone the “es” W-Zero3, which is now the 2nd product made by these 3 company for the Japanese Market. Where the previous version looked more like a PDA, the “es” W-Zero3 is more conservative with a “regular” phone looks but also feature a 2nd keyboard which is more appropriate for writing email, texts… Our “es” W-Zero3 specifications are as follow: 2.8″ VGA Screen, Xscale CPU (416Mhz) 128MB of flash memory and 64MB of SDRAM, MiniSD, 1.3Mpix Camera and this in a body of 135×56x21mm for 175g. Now our first impressions on the product by itself are very good, the product is well done and have a very good and stylish design for a Japanese mobile phone, no the real draw back here for us is the usage the PHS network which is limited to some area, do not works well in trains or car, a 0 compatibility with 3G or GSM. The other bad points are the lack of either Bluetooth or Wifi, but well we gain an optional 1Seg TV tuner (DMB)… But once again with what Japanese TV offer… I would rather prefer a Wifi module that a 1Seg one.

The transmission technology used by 1Seg is not DMB, it is ISDB (more specifically, ISDB-T SB).

A miniSD WiFi module and a USB Bluetooth module are under development.

I know what is T-DMB, 1SEG and DMB, but I just want to make it simple for 90% of our readers which are now confused with all this "WORDS", that why here I "compare" 1Seg to DMB

Look here a good example on HOW IT IS important to give a good "Benchmark" for all

Now I use DMB as a Benchmark to avoid confusion since Digital TV (this kind of DTV), started first in Korea, with real products, by now all our readers now that if I put compare something to DMB it will means DTV…
Daimaou,
I understand what you are trying to do but I just think you may end up confusing some people too i.e. they will think that DMB and 1Seg are the same thing. In the worst case, someone might buy a portable digital TV device in Korea and think they could use it in Japan.
Maybe a description like "1Seg (like DMB)" or "1Seg (similar to DMB)" is better…
Anyway, up to you. Keep up the good work on the site!
