[Hands-On - Video] Canon releases EOS Kiss X5 and Kiss X50 in Japan (Rebel T3i and Rebel T3)

[Hands-On - Video] Canon releases EOS Kiss X5 and Kiss X50 in Japan (Rebel T3i and Rebel T3)

We just came back from Canon’s press conference where the company introduced today two new entry level DSRLs with the Kiss X5 (Rebel T3i) and Kiss X50 (Rebel, T3). Both models don’t come with stunning improvements but just enough to keep us interested to get a DSLR instead a Point and Shoot.

The Kiss X5 comes with the usual DIGIC 4, a new Automatic Mode, the A+, Video Stamp, SD, SDHC and SDXC support, with a 18Mpix CMOS, a tilt/swivel LCD monitor, ISO 6400 Max, Full HD video mode in H.264 with a 3x or 10x Digital Zoom. The Kiss X5 will cost around 90,000 Yen in Japan (Body only).

The Kiss X50, is an entirely new camera designed for first time users and will be available in two different colors including RED and Black. Announced at 50,000 Yen (Body Only), the Kiss X50 comes with a 12.2Mpix CMOS, a DIGIC 4 image processor, SD, SDHC and SDXC support a 720p video mode and ISO 6400 Max.

Both the Kiss X5 and Kiss X50 comes with different Photo and Video mode including like the usual Diorama or Tilt-shfit mode for example.
While these cameras are not really what I am looking for in a DLSR, both models have pleasantly surprised me. The Red Kiss X50 is elegant and will attract a wider range of customers. Both models comes with a new grip and button layout design that giving an easier access to the camera functions and making the transition from a Point and Shoot to a DSLR even easier.
