Samsung offers full refunds for faulty PCs using Intel Sandy Bridge platform

According to the Wall Street Journal, Samsung announced yesterday that PCs sold in Korea or Anywhere else for that matter running on Intel’s faulty Sandy Bridge Technology would be entitled to get a full refund of exchange of the product. To make things even worse for Intel, Samsung announced that this refund will be borne by Intel itself.

Actually, it was Intel that originally said they will bear the cost of replacement/refund. That is the reason why vendors are being prompt and responsive about the flaw.

It should also be noted: The flaw only affects onboard Serial-ATA ports 2-5 in the chipset. Anyone using a desktop or laptop which was designed to use only SATA ports 0 and/or 1 are completely unaffected and do not have to worry about replacement/refund. (This is especially true for notebooks, which already have limited space and typically only use 2 SATA ports, one for HDD and one for ODD.)
