Summer’s approaching fast, and I’m sure you will be relieved to find out that you can authenticate yourself under water! Put your PC next to the swimming pool, dip this fingerprint scanner in the water, and whilst you’re scuba-diving in that 1.3m deep swimming pool of yours, just swipe your finger on the sensor and there you go, you’re into Windows! And the software is even available in English…

The MS Fingerprint reader is pretty durable, and I think it would be possible to make the reader completely waterproof with some silicone glue to seal out the water from the fingerprint sensor area. As most of you know, the MS Fingerprint device is a copy of the Digital Persona UareU 4000b, and even though they (DP) won’t confirm it, I know they’ve sold a large number of those readers with solid glass sensor protectors (the ones they usually use is made out of silicone). These are virtually waterproof.

We’ve done a multilingual Time&Assistance application called Cerberus using this tech (and the MS Fingerprint reader). Not waterproof yet, though… http://www.cerberus.com.mx

The site is all in Spanish, but you can read some about Cerberus in English at http://www.lekare.com
