Let’s Visit Tokyo – Tokamachi Niigata – Photo Edition

Let’s Visit Tokyo – Tokamachi Niigata – Photo Edition

Hi everyone, I am sorry that this morning you won’t have the pleasure to enjoy one of our Let’s Visit Tokyo video. I left last Friday for a few days of “piece” in trouble times to get some rest, my destination Tokamachi in Niigata.
I am not sure that I will be able to shoot some video for you of this place since it is snowing like hell and that I left my ND Filter at home… However I shot some photos for your quickly yesterday showing how much snow felt there… Around our hotel there is between 2 to 2.5m of snow, with “Snow Walls” on each side of the roads and many roads lost forever (first picture in the gallery) where only the Stop Signe placed 3m above the street can be seen.
We saw also many houses or stores literally “swallowed” by snow where people were forced to use their second floor windows as main entrance.

Sure this may sound ridiculous to you if you are living in Canada for example, but for me… well, just WOW.

Anyway I’ll try my best to shoot something here but don’t expect much!

I can’t see most of your videos of “let’s visit”. The when I click the video, I get the following message – The creator of this video has not given you permission to embed it on this domain. This is a Vimeo plus feature.

All I am doing is trying to play the video on your website to take the tour !!

    Thanks

Try to watch one of these videos on another browser it will work, apparently one of your FireFox plug-in is the culprit, most probably a flash-blocker or equivalent.

That reminds me of one time at the office, when we were having OS stability issues, it was after 6, I said “my browser died, I’m going home”, and everyone stared at me… I guess my slight accent didn’t help.

It’s insane how much snow is falling there…not to mention several people have died already this winter in Japan because of it. I’ve never seen so much snow in my life. Thanks for posting the pics!

That’s a lot of snow. Looks like it had warmed up some when you were there, by the wet roads. All that snow on the buildings in town, warmer temps, and then more snow – not a good mix – avalanches and collapsed roofs to follow. Hope there was an onsen at some point on the vacation
