New set-top box processor from Sigma Designs, the SMP8910
This is the first chip to integrate VXP studio quality video processing and the extremely flexible 3D video processor into a high-performance media processor. The chip’s unique design allows for HD multi-format video decoding, 3D graphics rendering, content protection and security management and multi-format audio encoding and decoding, with task optimized performance. The SMP8910 also has two new VXP features: de-ghosting and adaptive de-banding, and is excellent at handling internet streamed content.
