Sony and Panasonic = AVC HD, HD for camcorders

Sony and Panasonic have collaborated on a new HD standard, the AVCHD, that offers 1080i and 720p in H.264/MPEG-4 AVC on a good old 8cm DVD. this format will be used in future HD camcorders that use a 8cm DVD instead of MiniHD tapes. All the supported standards are:

1080/60i, 1080/50i, 1080/24p (1920×1080 or 1440×1080) 720/60-50-24p, 480/60i, 576/60i with a BR of 18Mbps.
