Stylophone, add a theremin and a couple of iPhones and you’ve got yourself a band

In the right hands, this gadget could be the source of endless audio creativity, at home, in the park, or onstage, I’m serious, but for most of us it would just end up in a drawer somewhere. I’m quite sure that I would be in the latter group; however I would be thoroughly impressed by someone who could rock out on this puppy. OK, so what is it? The Stylophone was originally invented in 1967. It has a metal keyboard that is played by touching a metal stylus which closes the circuit and creates a tone. They were pretty popular in the late 60s and early 70s, but stopped being produced in 1975. The Stylophone has been featured in several popular songs over the years, and now the popular kids’ toy is back. This version has three tone settings, a vibrato switch. Two cool improvements for this new version are the headphone port and the MP3 player port which allows you to listen and play at the same time. It retails for 3,590yen.Stylophone, add a theremin and a couple of iPhones and you’ve got yourself a band
