JVC Everio GZ-MG505
Category: Image - Tags:
JVC aka Victor presents a new Everio, the GZ-MG505. Just like the whole Everio range, it has a HDD (a 1.8″ 30GB version in this case, which allows up to 37h30 of video recording) and a 1.33MP 3CCD sensor. It will record video in Mpeg2, but watch it, these files will not be compatible with all the video software out there, you need to use the software supplied with the GZ-MG505. The device measures 74×73x125 for 450g.

Hi Spacepig,
I have this Everio cam and what it actually does, is record standard MPEG2 with AC3 stereo sound.
You WILL be able to use it with every piece of editing software, provided the software has a AC3 plugin or AC3 native support for Audio.
You just have to rename the file to .mpg or .mpeg to be able to load them in every known editiing suite (with AC3 support).
Victor/JVC apearantly doesn’t want you to know, because their tech staff is not allowed to tell you (not in Europe, and not last time I checked with them in Japan).
This counts for all Everio based models all over the world, as far as I was able to check it out with the 505, the 67 and 77 models for Europe and the 505 for Japan.
thanks good to know!
