Sony PlayStation Move sales hit 4.1M units

Sony PlayStation Move sales hit 4.1M units

Sony released the newest PlayStation system in September of this year, the PlayStation Move. As we started to learn four years ago with the release of Nintendo’s Wii, gamers want to get off the couch and move. This is still true, but the technological options available to help get gamers moving are increasing. The PlayStation Move is sold either as an upgrade to PlayStation 3, consisting of a controller and PlayStation Eye camera. It is also available as part of a bundled package with the PlayStation 3. In total, 4.1 million PlayStation Move units have been sold in the past three months. The announcement came just after Microsoft announced that their new Kinect motion-based game system had already sold 2.5 million units in just 25 days on the market. The numbers are all impressive, but I suppose we will see who the winner is after the holiday shopping rush.

Apparently this was the number of unit shipped to retailer, not sold to the consumer, hopefully retailer wouldn’t be that stupid to make that amount of stock on the shelves.
