Liquid crystal flat screen with memory

This flat screen has “Memory liquid crystals” that allows an image to stay displayed after the screen is powered off. This results in a significant gain in power consumption.

I think you got it backwards. Having a memory liquid crystal would result in a significant gain in extended battery life.

Well I didn’t translate the news but, a gain in power consuption means in this way that you "save" energy

Im pretty sure that’s improper English. A gain means "to manage to achieve an increase of" and of course a "gain in power consumption" means you an increase in power consumption(use).
