How to raise productivity on the dairy farm
Category: Science - Tags: China, cows, dairy, dairy farm, Electricity, Energy, environmental, methane, methane conversion

In China, dairy farming is turning into big business, but raising cattle can be a big strain on the environment. Cow manure produces a lot of methane, and harmful greenhouse gas which is 23 times more damaging than carbon dioxide. The Huishan Dairy in northeast China is generating power by collecting the methane in their new generating system, the largest in the world of its kind. Not only are they producing energy, but the byproduct, the left over poop, is actually much safer to use as a fertilizer than raw manure. Everybody wins!
