Next Iteration of Galaxy Tab Might Use Dual-Core Chip

Next Iteration of Galaxy Tab Might Use Dual-Core Chip

Samsung Electronics, whose Galaxy Tab is making the rounds around the world as the first serious iPad contender, will be updating its slate device with its new dual-core processor, the Orion, said an uncredited source to Digitimes. The Orion has a 1GB ARM dual-core Cortex A9 chip as well as a quad-core Mali 400 GPU, capable of encoding and decode 1080p video, as well as outputting to HDMI. The innards of what Samsung says will be the next tablet made an appearance at the Taiwanese ARM Technical Symposium last week, but has not announced when it’ll become available or what size the next-gen tablet will be.
