Ginormous hard drives by Hitachi, up to 3TB!

Hitachi is releasing the Deskstar 7K3000 with storage capacities of a wimpy 1.5TB (piff!), 2TB, and 3TB. They all deliver 7200 RPM performance in a standard 3.5-inch form factor. The drives also also have 6Gb/s SATA interface and 64MB cache buffer, offering improved performance over previous models. The Desktar 7K3000 sports a halogen-free design, making it more eco-friendly, it runs on newer Oss, think mac OS X or Windows 7, and it is ideal for PC gaming and video editing.

strange… why use the 6gb/s standard when default 3gb/s can handle the throughput speeds perfectly. 6gb/s only gets benefits from SSD, preferably sandforce controlled to get the most out of it.

I only got one question….. where is the price tag?

    • Ike

expected to launch at 250-300dollar. If you wait a couple of months i’m sure they’ll go below 200dollar quite fast since there is already some competition in that segment (WD)
