RIM Blackberry Powered and WiFi Phone from Samsung

Samsung presents 2 rather interesting phones: the T719 clamshell phone that offers Blackberry functions and the T709, a WiFi/UMA model.

Samsung t719 RIM® Blackberry Connect™

Samsung’s groundbreaking t719 is expected to hit the U.S. market as the first phone incorporating RIM® Blackberry Connect™ Email in a compact, slim folder design. With its SureType keyboard, convenient thumb pad and speakerphone, the EDGE-enabled, quad-band t719 boasts a 2.12-inch, 262K-color TFT screen that provides an ideal view for emails, file downloads and video capture/playback.

In addition to its productivity-enhancing features, the t719 also delivers mobile entertainment capabilities, including a 1.3 megapixel camera, camcorder and media player. At only 3.5 ounces, the t719 remains a lightweight, hands-free device with Bluetooth™ wireless technology support, speakerphone and advanced voice recognition solutions.

Samsung t709 – WiFi/UMA connectivity (Clamshell)

As one of the first phones in the U.S. to feature WiFi and Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA) technologies, Samsung’s t709 will deliver comprehensive coverage allowing for mid-call switching between broadband and cellular networks. The t709 allows calls to channel from WiFi access points, through the Internet, and onto a cellular network, giving consumers seamless connectivity while traveling between the home, office or on the road.

The t709’s cutting-edge network capabilities and advanced multimedia features are captured in a compact black slider design weighing only 3.3 ounces. The tiny EDGE-enabled device packs a range of features, including a 1.3 megapixel camera, an MP3 player, a video player, dual stereo speakers, speakerphone and an enhanced 262K-color TFT screen, bringing rich, vibrant sound and image qualities to pictures, music, video clips and ringtones.

“Samsung’s product line-up at CTIA unquestionably is the most advanced phone showcase we’ve ever had,” said Peter Skarzynski, senior vice president, Samsung. “We are bringing to market incredible innovations in entertainment and productivity mobile devices that will be consumers’ preferred way to connect wirelessly to music, video and information.”
