Ne-Train, the Fuel Cell Powered Train… Ready for 2007!
Category: Misc - Tags:
First of all, a thank you to Kimura-San, our beloved accountant (a necessary evil), for finding this piece of news. The Japanese railway system is one of the most dense in the world, and implementing such a system requires a lot of R&D. JR (Japan Rail) has been working on non-polluting energy powered trains for the past 3 years, and the Fuji Sankei Business magazine has an article on the progress of the “NE Train” project. This Fuel Cell powered train uses 65kW fuel cells to get to a speed of 65km/h, and this train will hit the Japanese rails in 2007! It will run on the non-electrified line between Nagano and Yamanashi.
