Toshiba has released a new internal 100GB hard drive, the MK1060GSCX, that was specially engineered to function in “rugged” operating environments and to provide reliable, 24/7 performance across wide temperature, altitude, and vibration ranges. It’s meant to be used in ultra-resistant PCs and industrial equipment such as ATMs, digital surveillance, and factory automation. It features a “case temperature” range of -15 to +70 degrees Celsius, expanded operating altitude range and better resistance to vibration

There is also a slightly slower 80GB version, the MK8050GACY.

No word yet on pricing or release, but Toshiba will begin mass production in December 2010.
