Elpida Memory to Ship World’s Largest LR-DIMM Memory

Elpida Memory Inc., a Tokyo memory module manufacturer borne out of NEC, Hitachi, and Mitsubishi DRAM businesses, has announced that it will begin shipping sample units of 768GB sticks of RAM, with twenty-four of its 32GB load-reduced dual in-line memory modules on board – the biggest in the world. These LR-DIMMs clock in at 1600Mbps, making it 20% faster than RDIMM modules on the market today.
Elpida hope to be able to mass-ship the modules in the first quarter of 2011.
