Mouse Computer Finally Ready to Show LuvPad

Mouse Computer Finally Ready to Show LuvPad

After month-long delays and a couple reschedules, Mouse Computer Japan finally held a press conference for The Most Adorably-Named Tablet Ever, at its headquarters near Akihabara.

Along with the hardware details of the LuvPad AD100 we already knew about – Tegra 250 chipset, 10.1-inch LED-backlit wide touchscreen with multitouch (@1024×600), 512 MB of RAM and 8GB of dataspace – we found out that it’ll come with an accelerometer and light sensor (but not GPS), and Bluetooth.

The Tegra chip and NVIDIA-altered Android 2.2 provide a user experience that, among other things, will play Flash videos rather smoothly, says Mouse – even in full screen.

Web browsing will also feel faster than the representative netbook, a spokesperson also said. In fact, the hardware is so powerful that it falls outside the range of hardware specs that Google allows to access the Android Market – in the opposite end of the scale from many other non-Market-compatible Android devices!

Mouse Computer hope that Google’s accepted range will move to include the LuvPad in future iterations of the Android OS – either at 2.3 or 3.0 – and will consider pushing an upgrade to one or the other when those choices become available for consideration.

The LuvPad will start shipping next week, on the 19th.
