[FPD 2010] Samsung’s booth is mind-blowing!
Last year’s Samsung Booth at FPD was already the most impressive, and this year the Korean Giant again reigned as leader.
Introduced yesterday, Samsung 7” Super AMOLED screen on a “Galaxy Tab” like Android Slate. This screen offers a stunning 1024×600 resolution at 196PPI,a 250 cd/m2 brightness, 16.7M colors and a 100% NTSC color space.
Honestly speaking the result is breathtaking and we just hope that we will have the chance to see such a gorgeous screen on our tablet soon.
Running on an Android Like “clamshell” device, Samsung installed two 4.5” WSVGA screens (266PPI), 16.7M color depth, a 300cd/m3 brightness, a stunning 100,000:1 contrast ratio and a color gamut superior to 100% of the NTSC Color space.
Maybe the most impressive display of all, a tiny 5.3” screen with a 960×800 resolution (235PPI) a 26.2M color depth, 250 cd/m2 brightness and here as well as a stunning 100,000:1 contrast ratio and a color gamut superior to 100% of the NTSC Color space.
Less impressive than the foldable display, the AMOLED flexible ones still offer impressive colors on a tiny 2.8 WQVGA resolution (240×400 166PPI). Specs are also impressive with a 16.7M color depth, 250 cd/m2 brightness and here as well as a stunning 100,000:1 contrast ratio and a color gamut superior to 100% of the NTSC Color space.
Mounted on a 14.1” notebook, this transparent AMOLED does not yet meet your basic requirement for being fully usable on such a device. With a 960×540 resolution and only 78PPI, this display offers a 250cd/m2 brightness and will sure make your working life harder if really installed on a notebook!
Another example of this technology was demonstrated on a mockup store on top of its storefront windows allowing advertiser to display stunning video and effect while allowing you to see through it.
In a tune similar to the Transparent AMOLED Display, the Virtual Holographic LCD adds a stunning 3D effect to your storefront windows and was here installed on a 40” LCD Setup.
Ultra slim, almost indestructible (according to Samsung), this plastic based display offer a descent 1024×600 resolution on a 10.1” display, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, a 250cd/m2 brightness and an acceptable 50% color gamut.
Other Stuff from the Samsung Booth
The Samsung booth was huge and there were hundreds of other goodies, like the Windows LCD (Another transparent Display), the 70” 240Hz UD 3D TV (Stunning), 3D glassless phones (not so impressive) and many, many ultra slim 3D TVs.
If you have the time, and live next to Makuhari, just make sure to visit the Samsung Booth at FPD tomorrow you won’t regret it!
