Buffalo Announces High-Spec NAS

Buffalo Inc. has announced a new network-attached storage unit, the LS-QVL series. With four hard drive bays and an (undisclosed) processor, this NAS has up an Ethernet interface that supports up to 1000BASE-T as well as a USB 2.0 port, and can accept up to four 2 TB hard drives in a RAID 5, RAID 10, RAID 0, or RAID 1 array. Bundled software enables access to files over the Internet, recording HD television shows with Sky PerfecTV! HD and 3D, as an external hard drive for Toshiba REGZA TVs, and as an Eye-Fi recipient. Full support is guaranteed for Windows 7, Vista, and XP, while Windows Server 2003, Server 2008, and Mac OS X (after 10.3.9) won’t have support for Turbo PC, Turbo Copy, or Easy Backup.
Buffalo will sell two versions of this product: one, the LS-QVL/R5 series, will come with four hard drives totaling 8 TB, 4 TB, or 2 TB; and the LS-QVL/1D series will come with one hard drive (with three empty bays) of 1 or 2 TB. All are scheduled for a late November release.
