Hitachi showcases capacitive screen that can use finger, stylus
Hitachi has demoed its latest screen technology: an impressive capacitive screen that allows touch without needing direct finger contact. Like current touch screens, it uses projection in order to capture user input, but Hitachi’s little marvel will ALSO work with gloved fingers, fingernails, or even a pen — unlike current touch screens which require either a bare finger or a specialized stylus. It’s as precise and responsive as any regular touchscreen, and even supports multi-touch. Only downside: size is limited to 10″ for now.
