Toshiba REGZA Phone T-01C on Docomo

Branded with Toshiba’s famous television set name, this Android smartphone has a 4-inch touchscreen, a camera with a whopping 12-megapixel sensor, one-seg TV, and a landscape stand for watching TV. It’s also waterproof, allowing those glued to their TVs to get rid of their couch potato smell… while watching TV. Magnificent. Also has osaifu keitai support for touchless IC payment.

149 grams, 126x62x14.7 mm, with Android 2.1 (spring 2011 update to 2.2). Scheduled for sale sometime in December or January.

Sharp seems to be getting star billing on each carrier, but the Regza phones on KDDI and NTT actually seem to give the Sharp phones a good run for their money, especially if you are like me and consider waterproofness to be a far more practical and worthwhile feature than a 3D display.

  On the other hand, for those OUTSIDE Japan, Sharp’s the only one actually bringing their nice stuff overseas (let’s start with the fact that China’s getting the 003SH this month). Toshiba’s yet to bring anything nice overseas since the Dynapockets, much less these, and mucking around with HyperSIMs and worrying about CPR just doesn’t cut it with some people.
