SoftBank’s Kids’ Phone Gets Smaller: SoftBank 005Z
One of SoftBank’s most interesting new devices is ZTE’s 005Z, a 46.6×76.6×16.3mm crime prevention buzzer (a kid under attack pulls the pulling thing and a loud buzzer goes off, scaring off the attacker and alerting adults nearby) with a W-CDMA antenna. The single button on the front panel of the waterproof device connects the child to his mother (or whatever number pre-registered on the device as the emergency contact), and a GPS fix of the device’s current location can also be sent to the child’s parents’ phone, all for the nice low price of 490 JPY a month. On sale after March next year.
