HDMI Over Ethernet by Thanko

HDMI Over Ethernet by Thanko

Thanko Japan released a new and interesting converter, the AV HDREL 2, its name, is a two-way solution allowing you to send Video and Audio from an HDMI source to an HDMI capable receiver via Ethernet.
This solution once connected to your source via a little RF Transmitter will also be able to send remote data to control your video source from afar.

Simply put, thanks to this AV HDREL 2, you could watch a DVD on a TV and control your DVD player that happen to be up to 40m away from you (40m is apparently the maximum distance supported by this product).

Like usual this product is available on Thanko’s Store in Akihabara or Online via GeeKStuff4U.com (Soon available)

I wonder how these would compare with the professional and “professionally priced” Gefen equipment (e.g. http://www.gefen.com/kvm/dproductlisting.jsp?listingCategory=Extenders&productType=hdmi) which I’ve previously contemplated but price has ruled it out.

this could be a solution to watch movieroom recorded material in the bedroom:-)

I’ve a doubt: the converter only use the fisical ethernet wire, or send the hdmi signal over my LAN? Can I send this hdmi signal thru PLCs?
    Thanks!!
