Thank you for pointing this out.
Design wise, I guess samsung has set a bit of a trend with "expensive looking" glass look a like bezels. Although, they are so common now that everybody knows it's actually cheap plastic with a fancy led put in.

Ike, they use LG's new e-IPS panel which is a lower cost technology. It should be sub $400 for the 21.5".

I'm considering buying this monitor when it comes out but I agree that the stand and chassis design looks horrible. They have this beautiful, high-tech, professional screen surrounded by a glossy, fingerprint-prone, cheap plastic. And why would I want my monitor stand to look like a wine glass? I'd rather it look like a monitor stand that's stable and adjustable. And what's up with that clear plastic piece hanging under it with the blue LED? It reminds me of those riced up Honda Civics with underglow. Ridiculous...

I wonder why nobody makes Quad HD monitors in size of 34-36" @3840x2160 res. That is much needed for digital photo specialists.

I quote: "No word on pricing"

Expect a high one. These IPS panels are used in Apple Imac's, there are the cream of the crop if you are a graphical designer or DTP guy. How odd they aren't producing 24" and 27" models, now those would actually sell much better to their target industries.
