NEC’s timing machine of the year 2000
Ok, this is 2006, but we thought it was appropriate to put 2000 in the title. There are still certain (outdated) companies that use a machine that you have to use when you access and leave the office, just to see whether you’re a good employee. This system is being phased out in a lot of European companies but still in vogue in a lot of Japanese companies. NEC has come up with a new idea now: replace the stamping card with the employee’s head! So yes, you will have to greet a camera, and a face recognition software gives you access to the locker room and you can start your daily mind-numbing activities in the office. This system also replaces the key to the locker, so if you haven’t worked long enough, you won’t be able to change into your comfy clothes and go home!
