NEXCO West & Nissan: New Technology Warns Drivers That They're Driving the Wrong Way

The West Nippon Expressway Company (which manages highways in west Japan) and Nissan Motor Company announced the fruits of their twenty-two-month collaborative project to “develop roadway information provider technologies using IT”: a GPS car navigation system that verbally and visually warns the driver when the car is driving against traffic, which is a problem in Japan – especially among older people – where highway entry and egress points can be much more confusing than, say, the US, because of complicated geography and limited space.

The new carnav technology will be offered onboard Nissan’s new third-gen Fuga hybrid, which will go on sale tomorrow.

some Japanese cars have rear ends that look like the front end.

I recently saw a new Acura on the freeway here and I thought the guy
was driving in the wrong direction until I realized that I was looking
at the rear end of the car. (even the taillights looked like headlights)
