SD-BD2, Toshiba Japan new entry level BD player

Expected in early-November in Japan, and priced at around 20,000 Yen, the new Toshiba Blu-Ray player, SD-BD2, is a simple yet powerful Blu-Ray player. This unit supports AVCHD Video on SD or SDCH Cards, as well as MP3 or JPEG files, and also supports of Dolby NR TrueHD and with a 20W power consumption powered on and only 1W on standby.

Got one just recently, it also handles PAL region 2 DVDs (auto upconverts them to 1080p 60hz), and avi/mp4/mkv files off of CD-R/DVD-R/BD-R/SD Card with embedded subtitles (vobsub or srt), multiple audio streams (mp3 and aac, ogg vorbis does not work), and soft aspect ratios embedded in the stream. It handles pretty much every mpeg4 derived video codec I have thrown at it from divx 3 all the way to Xvid, and x264 with nearly every feature enabled – even at (least) 1200×720 resolution. A lot of “hidden” features so it seems.
