Companies join forces to create ecological standards in networked lifestyles
The Smart Network Project which is made up of NTT Docomo, NEW, Sekisui House, Namco Bandai, and others are joining forces to test networked homes and electric vehicles, with the hopes of developing new, sustainable living standards for the future. The project will be conducted in Yokohama’s Minato Mirai 21 district from November 2010 to March 2011. Upon completion of the testing phase, the Smart Network Project development is intended to be displayed to the public.
The project was picked up by Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications as a part of the Projects to Standardize and Promote Network Integration Control Systems. The goal is to build a sustainable low-carbon society through the development of smart grids, networked home appliances and electric vehicles connected via common communication standards.
