Win 7 Phones: the line-up

11 Windows 7 Phones have been announced already, and they’re all very similar hardware-wise: all feature a Qualcomm’s 1-GHz QSD8250/8650 chipset, HSDPA 7.2, WiFi connectivity, and a 5-megapixel camera.

The Samsung Focus and the Omnia 7 both sport 4″ 480 x 800 Super AMOLED screens and 8gb of storage 8 (with microSD extension possible up to 16gb for the Focus). The Focus’ design is curvy yet ultra-slim, in contrast with the Omnia 7 and its straight, lightweight look. Both screens are impressively bright and vivid

Those are also exactly the specs of the Dell Venue Pro, which features a slide-down full QWERTY keyboard and chromed sides for a very “pro” feel.

On the LG front, while the screens are slightly smaller (3.8″ 480 x 800 LCD for the Optimus 7, 3.5″ 480 x 800 for the Quantum/Optimus 7Q), storage capacity is much more impressive with 16GB out of the box. The Quantum isn’t much to look at, with its rubber edges and slightly unwieldy design, but its landscape slide-out QWERTY is one of the best among the W7 phones.

With 5 Win 7 handsets at launch, HTC is betting heavily on Redmond’s new OS. The HTC 7 pro has the smallest screen of the line-up (3.6″ 480 x 800) and a fantastic landscape slide-out keyboard (it’s even got a number row!). The HTC 7 Surround, as it names hints, packs a slide-out “Dolby Surround Sound” speaker. As for the HTC 7 Trophy, not much surprise there: it looks remarkably like the HTC Desire (a Droid phone) and is going to be one of the cheapest WP7 phones on the market. Again, the HTC 7 Mozart’s design is reminiscent of the Desire’s (with a dash of Legend aluminum). Last but not least, the big-boned HD7, which makes up for its bulk by packing 16GB of memory.
