External Dual DVD burner, the DVR-UW8DP

A rather interesting external burner for all you DVD freaks out there. It’s not bigger than a regular USB 2.0 DVD burner, but this DVR-UW8DP has not 1 but 2 burners in the casing (TEAC’s DV-W28SL)! You don’t need a PC anymore to use this product, you can use it anywhere you want and copy DVD’s or DVD+DL’s OTG. This will really make CD copying a lot easier for non-IT-savvy people.
It’s quite funny to see the difference in approach between the majors of the industry that offer both equipment and music and the smaller players. Also funny to see that in Japan at Tsutaya (a big chain of DVD/CD rental stores) they sell blank CD-R’s, DVD-R’s, DL’s and MD’s at the cash register… Kind of “I’m renting 10 DVD’s for a day, and give me 10 blank DVD discs at the same time!”

What makes you think it would copy DVD movies? As far as I can see, it is simply a DVD data duplicator. There’s no mention anywhere of it having the ability to defeat the copy-protection schemes included on most store-bought or rented DVD movies.

Nothing, actually my example was just to underline the difference that can existe in this world between to legal companies and association, everyday we can read on the web that the RIAA done this, that SONY done that… so you would not expect to see DVD-R, CD-R or Blank MD in a store when you can rent copyrighted stuff
