Murata Seisakusho Robot Learns New Skill

Murata Seisakusho Robot Learns New Skill

Kyoto-based electronic components manufacturer Murata Seisakusho is known for two experiment platforms in the guise of robots, Murata Seisaku kun and Murata Seiko chan. Seiko chan is affixed permanently on a unicycle, on which she can balance and move around on with the help of a gyroscope in her chest.

Yesterday, the company announced that Seiko chan, called Muratagirl in English, has learned a new skill. The robot could already move in a curvy trajectory, and cycle down a balance beam – among other tricks – but this time around, Seiko chan successfully navigated a curved balance beam.

Seiko chan and her relative, Seisaku kun, will make an appearance at the CEATEC 2010 expo from the 5th to 9th in Makuhari.

The images attached to this post are of two of the former skills Seiko chan already knew, mentioned above in the text.
