Fujitsu Announce 2010 Winter Model Computers

Fujitsu held a press conference today to announce their 2010 winter lineup of personal computers at their headquarters in Shiodome, Tokyo.

One of their primary focuses for this season’s models was the coming switch to digital terrestrial television. Fujitsu’s computers were the first on the market that not only allowed users to watch television, but also record shows for later consumption, and Fujitsu positions their computers as bedroom TVs with more abilities than the average television set.

Another focus was on 3D, all the rage in this day and age. Fujitsu’s computers do three things with 3D: it plays 3D video, allows upconverting 2D media to 3D, and also creates 3D content with tools like 3D digital cameras and camcorders. The two desktop series PCs Fujitsu released this past summer were the only ones with the 3D features, but this time around, they are adding a laptop line to that round-up, complete with a stereoscopic dual webcam setup, pictured below.

As a first for personal computers, Fujitsu are offering Panasonic’s nanoe ion air purifier technology built right into their computers. Also on some machines are USB3.0 ports for higher-speed access to connected devices.

Desktop computers
Esprimo FH series entertainment PCs: The FH series entertainment desktop PC will come in 23- and 20-inch models running Windows 7 Home Premium, with a choice of Intel’s i5, i3, or Celeron T3500 processors, 4GB of RAM, and a Blu-ray or DVD drive. Two models of this series will have 3D support; two others will have touch screens. As a first for personal computers, Fujitsu are offering Panasonic’s nanoe ion air purifier technology built right into the backs of the monitors of two of this series’ computers.

Esprimo DH series slim tower desktops: With a super Full HD monitor and high-end specs, this computer is positioned as a gaming machine with official compatibility for Monster Hunter Frontier, a MMORPG from Capcom. This line will come in 24- or 22-inch models with a 1TB drive, with Intel Core i7 or i5 processors and NVIDIA GeForce GT330 graphics accelerators, as well as a Blu-ray drive and HDMI output port.

Notebook/Laptop form factor
Lifebook AH series entertainment PCs: A high-class entertainment laptop, two of this series will come with 3D support, with Intel Core i5, i3, or Celeron P4600 processors and 15.6-inch widescreen, with a 640GB or 750GB hard drive and DVD or Blu-ray disc drives.

Lifebook NH series AV flagship: This laptop is less a laptop and more an entertainment center in a notebook-like body, with its 18.4-inch 1920×1080 screen and five speakers with DTS Surround Sensation UltraPC technology, as well as a 4-inch touchscreen display above the keyboard, which displays media controls and a dictionary lookup function. The computer supports gesture-activated controls with its webcam, and has a 750GB hard drive large enough to record television shows to watch later.

Lifebook LH series design/compact laptops: Probably the most uninteresting series this time around, these computers come in a pretty Pure Pink color marketed as “feminine cuteness”, that I’m sure will make people of both genders groan out loud.

Lifebook SH series large-screen mobile laptops: Finally a laptop that people can lug! This series weighs only 1.52kg or 1.75kg, with batteries advertised to last a whopping 11.6 hours. They will come with i5 or i3 processors, 640GB hard drive and 4GB of RAM, a removable super multi drive and a WiMAX antenna.

Lifebook PH series business/high-spec notebooks: The business series in the lineup, this computer runs Windows 7 Professional, has a 12.1-inch widescreen and i3 processor, and has a WiMAX antenna alongside its wifi and Bluetooth features. The WiMAX model comes in a beautiful, high-quality Premium Black color, while the lower-end models of this series also come in ruby red and marine blue. Also of note is its ability to withstand up to 200kg of weight and a 90cm drop, along with its 3D acceleration sensors that move the drive head away from the hard drive platter when the computer detects a bump.

Lifebook MH series design netbook: The last of this season’s releases is the MH series netbook, a 10.1-inch 1366×768 resolution creature with rounded corners in red, white, or black. This computer only weighs 1.2kg, has a battery that lasts 5.6 hours, an Intel N475 processor and WiMAX. As an added plus, this netbook can be connected to another FMV computer and act as USB memory, which eases incredibly the transfer of data for people who use netbooks as a portable platform with a more powerful PC waiting at home.

No details about availability and pricing have been announced.
