[TGS 2010] Kinect Sports and Kinect Joy Ride on Xbox360

Kinect Sports and Kinect Joy Ride

At the Xbox booth, one of the main attractions was without any doubt the famous Kinect (originally known as Project Natal). Here again, we’re sure you’ve already heard lots of thing regarding this new controller-free gaming. Providing you a new and totally free gaming experience, if you’ve never heard about it, you will surely see and hear a lot of things about it for the next months.

Scheduled to be released on November 20th for 5880 yen, the Akihabara News team had the chance to enjoy some nice games using this technology at the Microsoft booth. For example we had the Kinect Sports (Watch the video and pictures gallery below). To be honest, the result is far from being bad with good responsiveness (still perfectible) and fun graphics. The movements are simply realistic. Like a real beach-volley game: you receive the ball, pass it and then smash the ball … Well, enough to get a nice experience close to the real beach game, even during Winter (Release scheduled for the month of November).
Also available on the booth, the Kinect Joy Ride, which is a good car game, should be available next year. Like the Beach-volley game, you just need a webcam that captures and transcribes your movement, and “Voilà”! You’re ready to compete against others. Graphically, the game is fun. However, for this kind of game, without a physical wheel, not sure to get a perfect driving experience…

Anyway, if you can move to Tokyo Game Show 2010 this week-end, be sure to test the Xbox Kinect.

From the looks of it looks ok, but when you actually play, you don’t feel anything like Feedback(vibration), and its very lagy.

How can you play a racing game with nothing? How can you activate turbo boost when you need it? -shrugs- I’m not really a fan of Mircosoft and their stuff, only game I find interest from them was back when X-Box first came out, that was something to do with Abe’s Odd World. The rest of the games… not interested, I do play games just prefer Sony and Nintendo. Just for now I can just say it looks nice.
